periphery and process

2011

Thanks to a travel grant by The Danish Arts Council, I have the possibility to explore border regions within the European union. The research trip takes its starting point between Denmark and Germany, continues along the former border between East and West Germany in the Wendland / Altmark region and Harz, and covers an area between The Czech Republic, Poland and Germany.

I seek to visually grasp the process of distinct territorialisations in the landscapes and their transformation over time: Does Europe `grow together´, is `grass growing´ over historic border lines? Photographing and filming a wide variety of European landscapes depicts pictures of political changes and their manifestations within cultural landscapes and man-made environments.
