2017
photographs, collages and objects
made at 1100m in the Alps during a residency at Kunstdepot Göschenen
Walking from Göschenen to Andermatt, I take a photo at least every two to three minutes until I arrive at the cafe of the train station in Andermatt, waiting for the train to return to Göschenen. While the alps throughout histories tend to appear as a place of longing, I experience it as a densely utilised area, shaped according to humans' needs. The ancient roads have become a major road network, tunnels keep being drilled, the sound of roadworks is omnipresent. It's only relatively silent inside the pedestrian tunnel and, strangely enough, the cafe.
The objects draw inspiration from the layered and shaped landscapes, consisting of torn and cut paper and wood, assembled, piled up and layered.
